We understand that many young people don’t know what it is they want to do. The number one goal as young people enter adulthood is to gain their independence and this can increase the pressure already upon them to find a career. At iThrive initiative we don’t ask young people what career they want, instead we ask them what they would like their life to look like, what they would like to achieve in life, what excites them, what would they like to see and where they would like to go. And so, Purpose & Direction Coaching has been specifically designed to help young people begin to shape their lives, the way they want them to be.
The pursuit of a goal, no matter how big or small, is what creates the motivation in a young person, the motivation to succeed, to achieve, to accomplish, the motivation to bring that dream to reality. Purpose & Direction Coaching helps young people to create a series of plans that will see them thrive in the life that they live, putting employment, education or training into the right context for them. When they understand the context, have chosen the end goal, everything they do has a purpose and they now have a direction. We make sure that every step in every plan is a safe one and that their choices and activity adds protective factors to the four health elements; mental health, physical health, social health and financial health. Adding protective factors to young people’s lives increases resilience and the reduces the impact that the risk factors in lives have on them.
Some young people may have more risk factors in their lives than others and may require a longer journey than others to unravel what’s happening right now and reshape that into a meaningful path for them, which is why there are a series of options below. The frequency of each session depends on every individual and every situation, it might be once a week for six weeks or it might be once a month for twelve months or anything in between.

Our 3-session option is ideal for young people who need a short, focused period of support to clarify what they want their life to look like. In these sessions, we help them identify what matters most to them, explore what excites them, and shape an initial plan that gives their next steps purpose and meaning. This is a great starting point for those who simply need a little direction and encouragement to move forward confidently.

The 6-session package offers more time to explore, reflect, and develop a deeper understanding of personal goals and motivations. With six sessions, young people can begin to untangle current challenges, build protective factors across the four areas of health, and shape a more detailed pathway toward the life they want. This option suits those who need steady guidance, space to think, and a supportive coach walking alongside them as they create meaningful plans.

Our 12-session option provides the fullest level of support—ideal for young people who may be navigating more complex situations or who need longer to explore their aspirations and strengthen their resilience. Across twelve sessions, young people have time to gently unravel what’s happening in their lives, build confidence, and develop purposeful long-term plans grounded in their mental, physical, social, and financial well-being. This extended journey helps them create lasting direction, stability, and motivation as they move into adulthood.
